Which year(s) will be considered 'The Golden Age of the GCSE', down the line?

A little tongue in cheek, maybe, but I wonder which span of years will be looked back upon as being those where it was easiest to get a pile of top marks, in general? Might it be those just past where a DC could resit and resit each module til they got the 'right mark'? Those where parents could do a good slab of the modular work at home? Or maybe those years up until a couple of years ago, when there was less scrutiny of the ever rising grades?

IME the 'golden age' is always 10 years before the school days of the person being asked.

Yes, 2005 was probably a good year. I got grade A for my Romeo and Juliet Essay originally written at a 1977 O level exam and top marks for my written French coursework. And in 2007 I got another grade A for R&J
