My DS is a goody goody.. sensible... and yesterday he got put in the black book as a group of them were singing in assembaly and changed the words and sang about a boy in their class... I only found out because another couple of mums were talking about it, and then they said didn't you know... Your SONS in the black book as well... (that will teach me to gossip!!!)

So when I got home I gently questioned Son [read interigated] and it seems that 4 of them got sent to the headmasters office and the boy who made up the song lied and said an another girl made it up...

So now son got told off (good that will teach him) but he did own up...and the liar got let off and the inocent child got told off instead.. 2 other people told me that the girl was inocent.. she didn't sing but she did laugh.. Do I mention it when I see that head master... Son got what he deserved.. but you got the wrong singing child...
or just leave it... I hate the thought of the innocent child upset and the liar gloating....

Couldn't be bothered tbh - it's probalby no big deal, although annoying I admit

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 22:24

i would, but i'm a cow. I hate devious kids

AngelaD · 16/03/2006 22:26

Yeah i think i would the girl must be seething

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 22:27

do it, do it! that'll teach em

expatinscotland · 16/03/2006 22:28

no one likes a clype :o.

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 22:30

a what? suppose you could leave it to karma..

starlover · 16/03/2006 22:32

i wouldn't.... because it's all based on hearsay. you don't know 100% what is true and what isn't.

the girl may have made the song up previously, and they were just singing it that day!

If I was the headmaster and a mum came up to me saying "you know the other day when some kids got told off? well, MY son says that the girl who made it up didn't, but the other boy lied... etc etc"

why would you do it?

nothercules · 16/03/2006 22:33

The school wont thank you and nothing will be done. Dont bother, just seeth.

alliebaba · 16/03/2006 22:34

they probably know who the little toad is in all this...I just dislike toe rags getting away with stuff

rummum · 16/03/2006 22:38

Thanks ladies
expatinscotland.... whats a clype.. its not in my on line dictionary Grin

I will be seeing the Head on monday anyway and will probably mention the incident.. and ask if Son was honest and owned up... if she say's yes I'll just say you got the wrong person who was singing and leave it at that.. name no names, end off discussion!

good on you.. a compromise! guess that makes you a clype????!!!!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 16/03/2006 22:43

Our HM would refuse to enter into tittle tattle and would not be impressed at a DM effectivley undermining what was his reading of the situation.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2006 22:51

I agree with LGJ about the integrity of the HM and his decision.

MrsSpoon · 16/03/2006 23:00

I would leave it too. If my son had been involved I would just be happy that he has been found out and dealt with and would leave it to the girl/parents of the girl to approach the School themselves if she has been unfairly dealt with.

A "clype" is a Scottish word for a tell-tale.

hmm - we had a similar issue the other day. Dd got told off for writing on the toilet door jamb (she drew a face and wrote "Stinck" in a speech bubble - the teacher had a very hard job keeping a straight face when she told dh!). In conversation it came up that some vandalism (scratched doors) was taking place in the boy's toilets but no-one had owned up. When we asked dd2 why she took a pen into the toilets with her she said "I got the idea because I saw that X takes a very sharp pencil with him when he goes to the toilets". We ummed and ahhed but in the end passed this info on to the teacher. (Felt like clypes though Wink)

Tortington · 16/03/2006 23:16

purlease.

Miaou · 16/03/2006 23:17

That at me, custy?

Tortington · 16/03/2006 23:35

no was at original post.

Littlefish · 17/03/2006 13:43

Rather off the point, but this thread has reminded me..

At the end of last term, two eight year old boys at my school were reprimanded for putting graffiti on the lovely wooden outdoor play equipment. How did we know who to punish? They'd signed their names at the bottom Grin. Somehow, I don't think either of them will be master criminals in the future.

MrsSpoon · 17/03/2006 17:01

LOL Littlefish! Grin Reminds me of my DS1, he drew a house on his door and wrote his name under it, then tried to say it wasn't him, it was his brother who was only a baby at the time. Grin
