assuming the pass mark was 200, if child A got 220 and had no siblings would they get a place before childB who scored 210 and had a sibling at the school? trying to find admission criteria but page is down.

The grammar schools I know have no sibling priority at all.

If it is used, then I expect it would be as tie-breaker for those with equal test scores. You really will need to check when authoritative site is back up.

Depends on the school.

All the ones near me do sibling priority. Some then do highest scores first but others do it on nearest distance to the school. So you can have someone who just scrapes a pass who gets a place as they're a mile away. Then someone with the highest score ever doesn't get a place because they're five miles away.

YOu would need to check with the school. Here, it's highest mark gets the place, no sibling rule, but we aren't a 'grammar school area', and I know things vary from LA to LA, as well as school to school.

they are all different

our local grammar does

top 2% regardless of location
looked after children in catchment achieving the pass mark
siblings in catchment achieving pass mark
siblings out of catchment achieving pass mark
students within catchment achieving pass mark
everyone else

we are 200yrds outside catchment, top 2% is too much pressure so we are taking our chances with the local good comp
