Hi there

If im in the wrong thread please excuse me. I wanted to ask, is it possible to have maths dyslexia? I have it but I managed with hard work to get through school, college and even university. It all started when in primary school, I had a very strict maths teacher who used to scream at me if I didn't understand the work.
I was great at school with English Literature and English but Maths, I struggled. I am fine with basic maths, addition, multiplication etc....but with subtraction my goodness it's like another language!! I still even to this day have to write sums down so I can see it, mental maths I have to work at.

It's very embarrassing for me..thank God my DS hasn't inherited my horrid fear of maths. So is it only me or has anyone else experienced this?

Number dyslexia is actually called dyscalculia, so it definitely exists. I dont have any personal experience but it's entirely possible you have it. HTH Smile

i have dyscalculia and its a right pain in the bum! no where near as well known as dyslexia unfortunately.. i was always treated as stupid in school until i got tested. don't sweat it, just take your time when you need to do maths or do what i do and just use the calculator on your phone (people just think im texting)
