How does it work now? Is it still 11 plus and how do you find out if you are I'm the right catchment area? Can you choose more than one grammar on your form?

You really need to say where you are. Your question is far too general otherwise.

Chelmsford outskirts in Essex.

The grammars in Essex are super selective, no catchment areas.

Yes to the 11 plus.

Four choices on form in order of preference, you receive only one offer. Having said that I believe it is changing this year and you will choose which schools to apply for after sitting the exam.

Boy or girl?

Thanks foe your responses. Boy, just wanted to check how it works now, I went to girls grammar 20+ years ago.

So there's not catchment rules? All based on preference and results?

No-this is isn't the case. Most of the grammars in Essex have catchment areas; which are you interested in?

EclecticShock · 31/07/2012 19:34

Thanks everyone. I found the info I was looking for on the net. There is a catchment area which gets a number of priority places.

Most selective schools have what they may call a supplementary form to fill in. Some had to be filled by the end of July but some in September/October. I hope you have checked all the websites and fill out the forms and return them to the schools in time.

Good luck.

Probably KEGS first, and then CRGS in Colchester if you think your DS will manage the train journey. Catchment has changed for Chelmsford though, so you may want to check on eleven plus forum to see if you would still make it, being on the outskirts.

Are you more the Brentwood side of Chelmsford, or more the Colchester side? I think the Brentwood side comes under a different 11+ test than the CSSE one, so you may find you need to apply to more than one place, and that your DS may have to sit more than one 11+ exam...

CSSE schools application for the SIF opened online on 1st July, still open now, closes end of August. (Also have a DS about to start Y6).

I applied online, you can pick where to sit the CSSE exam, KEGS probably closest to you?
