Tuition Fee loans after false starts - please help!

Hi,

I want to do an undergrad degree in September. The problem is, I have already done a year at two different universities, although I have no qualifications from either. First time, I couldn't concentrate on the work due to family issues at the time, I then started another uni the next September but I fell pregnant and suffered with hyperemesis, so once again I could complete much work since I could barely walk 200 yards without passing out/throwing up.

Do I have any chance of getting a tuition fee loan? Or do I need to give up now?

They used to give students an extra year incase they needed to repeat. It also depends on how long you were studying for before you withdrew from the course, most universities refund on a sliding scale so it's possible that you don't actually owe anything. Have you spoken to them?

I've tried ringing Student Finance, but there was a large queue. Will try again later, just wanted to find out what my chances are. Unfortunately I stayed for the whole year, and did complete some course work in the January each time, but unfortunately this didn't count towards anything.

You should be eligible for 2 years

That's what I was afraid of. I certainly can't afford to pay for it myself, I cant get a bank loan. Fuck.

Is it not possible to join where you left rather then start again? I'd speak to the Uni first, seems silly to start all over again in September and repeat things that you've already done (unless it's a new course). If you join in January then it may make a difference to the loan as you're not technically repeating anything. It all else fails, you could try begging the Uni for help. I've done this and they reduced the fees.
