We're looking to buy a house that would mean my dd would have about a 25min walk when she starts next year.is it reasonable to expect her to do that or do you think it means I would be giving her lifts most days?there isn't a bus service but it's in a town and not too concerned re safety.
What would most kids do with that distance?
Thanks in advance

25 mins is completely fine. Buy the house. Just don't waste your money on a coat of any description. Grin

Make sure she's got a good bag. Yr7s can be persuaded to use rucksacks, which are best for carrying the ton of stuff they seem to cart around until they get organised enough to fit homework into a messenger bag.

Greythorne - I predict that your friend's DS will be mortified at the notion of being driven for a 10 minute walk and just leave the house before mummy can get the car started!
