We are moving to Clevedon near Bristol and I would love some parent views of the primary schools, especially Yeo Moor which seems to be the only one with spaces for both my children.
Any views/ advise would be great!
thanks

I think all the primaries are pretty good. I have friends who want their kids to go to Mary Elton, All saints, St johns and St Nicks - so it seems that everyone has a different view. I don't know the history but when I moved here 3 years ago someone told me that yeo moor used to have a bit of a bad rep but that it's absolutely fine now - so I would go with the ofsteds if i were you!

Thank you for that. They do all seem fine and I have visited St nicks, Yeo moor and Mary Elton. Yeo Moor is the only one with places for both my kids but St Nicks is closer so I will apply and see what happens. I feel lucky that any choice seems to be good and hopefully Yeo Moor will get a better Ofsted next time, apparently it was wasn't so good after the amalgamation.

Hi sorry to start up a zombie thread but we are toying with the idea of moving to Clevedon in 1-2 years time. Son would be Y1 or Y2 and daughter would be almost ready for school nursery. Can anyone comment on the character of the schools? I'm not too worried about results or academics, more the feel/pastoral side. We are currently in London and the school my son is likely to go to is very liberal, laid back and informal. He also loves learning outdoors so do any of the Clevedon schools have Forest/Beach school status? Many thanks! Any general tips re living in Clevedon hugely appreciated! I lived in North Bristol growing up so roughly know the area and have family near by ish but don't know much from young family perspective. We are pretty liberal and not massively mainstream so am worried about (sorry!) small town mentality when we leave London (don't hate me!!)

Hi. I moved to Clevedon from Notting Hill 3 years ago, and it's great.
My kids are in year 1 and 2 at St Nicholas Chantry, which is a lovely school with a good community. It's one of the bigger ones so they have a broader range of friends. If you want a village school feel you may prefer All Saints.
It is a small town, with all the pros and cons that comes with it.
For me, it's the perfect place for kids this age. They always have loads to do because they have so many friends and school clubs, and they have freedom they never had in London.
On the flip side, if you want to go out for a nice meal/theatre/concerts and all those things, you may end up travelling into Bristol.
The move was a bit of a culture shock to start with, so do be prepared for a 'what now?' Feeling!
