Advice on recording TV for educational purposes

This will probably make me sound very stupid but I haven't had to record stuff for years as have a service in my school that does this for staff and uploads material onto our VLE. However, I'm moving to a school which is not as technologically savvy so what is the best way to record stuff that I will later want to take into school? Is there a machine that will record direct to DVD? I've heard about these personal recorders that record onto hard drives but that's no good if you want to transport programmes is it? Any advice gratefully received.

The cheapest option is to buy a DVD recorder and plug it into your tv and ariel. The recorded DVD will play in any other DVD player.

Some DVD recorders or media gadgets allow you record onto a memory stick. At the school you can plug that into a PC (I'm assuming that you will have access to projector linked to the PC that will project the video on the wall. If not, place like Maplin will sell you a £20 gadget which will allow you to connect up your memory stick to the tv.
