and if so, dd you do anything about it? My child is in year 5 and her teacher goes on and on about how she isn't enthusiastic enough in her subjects at every opportunity but when pressed admits she is doing very well. all the other teachers are lovely about her. parents evening yesterday and another earful and it's really getting me down. My daughter isn't enthusiastic unless something is very exciting, and school just isn't. really startrd to dislike this teacher.

Dd9 had a teacher last year who had a huge, huge obvious crush on dh it was embarrassing, she even told dd she was going to be buying a house in our road! She used to go to school with him and apparently was a bit of a psycho with the boys then god only knows what she's like now. We used to go home from school (on the odd day dh was on a/l) and actually laugh about it. She used to slink up to him like a pole cat marking her scent Grin

There has never been a teacher I have disliked as a person, but there has certainly been a teacher I thought was not intellectually competent enough to teach and another who I thought wasn't competent in caring for children.

DD's Reception class Teacher. She painted a picture of DD being expelled by the end of Yr1. From yr1-5 every Teacher said she was a delight to teach. Yr6 Teacher told me DD would spend her High School career in the bottom sets as she was lazy and disinterested, but this did spur me on to ensure DD didnt. I nearly sent a copy of DD's yr7 report to her high lighting all the works so hard, is a delight to teach comments plus what sets she was in. Grin

The reception supply teacher we had I really disliked. She just wasn't cut out to teach reception age children. Fortunately she left.

I have liked all my children's teachers. I thought DS1's reception teacher was a bit wet but I dot hink that was because it was her first job and she was a bit overwhelmed.

I did however hate my own Geography teacher with a passion. I have the misfortune to have her in years 7,8 and 9 before I gave up geography. In year 7 my parents missed a parents evening slot with her by mistake. She blamed me, shouted at me in front of the class about it and spent the next 3 years making me fall about 2cm small. For example she would read my essays out and sneer and laugh at them :(.

Vagaceratops I hated my Geography teacher too. I was late for school one day (when hers was the first lesson) because we'd come across a car crash on the way to school and dad being a doctor had 'run the scene' as it were and didn't leave until the driver was on his way in the ambulance. Legit reason for being late you'd think, right?
No, she told me that 'no-one gets special treatment just cos Daddy got to play hero this morning' and was venomous to me for the next three lessons or so. I think she was just cranky because of her eyebrow. Singular. NO-ONE (apologies to anyone here who is one) will convince me that geography teachers are anything other than the spawn of Satan.

A few from my secondary school days, looking back they had dreadful teaching styles, mainly got respect by fear and intimidation Angry

As far as DC's teachers are concerned there is one in their school I don't like as every time I see her she is either screaming at a child or being horribly sarcastic. She doesn't teach either of my DC at the moment!

I was bullied by a teacher at age 6 and can still remember being absolutely baffled by why she was always picking on me. My mum went and spoke to her which improved it a bit. I also had an absolutely vicious and vindictive biology teacher in secondary school who hated me and tried to force me to do ALL CSEs instead of O' levels as she was a deputy head. My Mum went to the school and saw the Headmistress and she agreed I had to do O' levels (passed all of them).

My DD has one teacher who dislikes her and I have informally complained about a couple of incidents to the Senco and Head of House, because she was taking the piss. There are a couple of teachers that seem to really like DD and have been incredibly helpful. I say to the DDs that throughout your life there are going to be people that are difficult to deal with and you may as well learn to deal with it now. I only complain if it is something really outrageous but I have nipped a few things in the bud by approaching the teacher politely if there is a problem rather than blowing it out of all proportion.
