Parents of prep school kids: I know this is going to sound like pathetic bleating but there is something - probably very petty - that irritates me so much about my dd's school

They don't update the sports board ready for the start of the new term Grin

Told you it was petty.

It drives me DEMENTED. Still all the spring term fixtures up. The games teacher is really crap as well which doesnt help.

What does your school do?

We get a text with team selections. Usually

Oh, no. I must be hallucinating. It's a state primary school and everyone knows state primary schools never play competitive sport!

seeker · 26/04/2012 06:32

Usually two days before.

It is utterly bizarre how much time you spend on threads about private schools seeker. Truly odd.

I'm interested in, and knowlegeable about, education.

I am active on other topics where there is a massive groundswell of misinformation too.

And I enjoy joining in on tongue in cheek threads like this one!

Knowledgeable has a "d" in it.

OP - Match slips home on a Monday for Wednesday matches. The fixtures are printed in the first newsletter of the term. No board up in the school at all, so count yourself lucky you have one (even though it's out of date). Grin

The only thing they tend to get wrong is the time you can collect your DC if it's been an away match. They are usually half an hour later than they say they will be.

Any school which regularly displays out of date information in its public areas creates a bad impression (like having fireworks artwork still up in January).

huptwothree · 26/04/2012 09:43

Yes I agree Edith, its the bad impression of the out of date board that I hate. BUT I have decided that maybe I am being a bit MONICA about this because we know about the fixtures well in advance, so I won't say anything except maybe informally. I am rather hoping that the games teacher might leave actually as she is very unpopular.

Don you have a PTFA? At our school one of the jobs we do is to regularly patrol the notice boards and keep them updated. It doesn't take long and makes a surprising difference to how the place looks.

seeker · 26/04/2012 10:09

Do you have, that should be.

LIZS · 28/04/2012 14:28

We get a calendar at the beginning of each term with dates for all fixtures, parents' meetings, concerts, plays etc. Only team lists and match reports go up weekly not that I bother to check them as dd never plays anyway

fivecandles · 28/04/2012 20:00

We get calendar too at beginning of year and regular updates.
