Paying back university tuition fees - what happens if DD becomes a SAHM?

Does anyone know the answer to this? If my DD (currently only 3!) were to go to university (and end up with large debt), would she have to pay the fees back if she gave up work and became a SAHM? Does anyone know?

This is an interesting article too news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8242831.stm

The facts are really scary:

'Public and private spending on higher education in the UK is 1.3% of GDP - below the OECD average of 1.5%.

"We are not only behind the US, who spend over twice as much as the UK as a proportion of GDP, but countries closer to home like Denmark, Portugal and the Netherlands are investing more than the UK," said Wendy Piatt, director general of the Russell Group, representing the most prestigious universities.

"Million+ has consistently been calling for the government to deal with the mismatch between supply and demand for university places," says Pam Tatlow of the group representing new universities. '

It's not only the social advantages of a well educated, flexible workforce it's also looking at the advantages to the economy.

It makes me mad when the state is presented as a drain when it fact it generates income. You only need to look at university towns to see that in action. The private sector benefits from universities in all sorts of ways.
