Supply teaching - primary.. what is essential to have with me?

Meant to start doing supply for first time this week and am now in an official big time panic. I have told agency I am happy to do anything from Y4 downwards. Do I need to have a lesson plan ready for all subjects for all years, or just concentrate on maths and literacy? Anything else that I shouldn't be without?

Most schools would leave you with planning I should have thought, it would be worthwhile having a couple of maths and literacy lessons up your sleeves though. How about extension sheets / activities for those who finish early? Saves you the panic when seventeen children ask 'What next Miss?' Have a couple of fun circle time type things to do (you may not use them but my motto is 'be prepared'!) Infact I could go on and on, but doubtless you'll work them out for yourself as you go into it. All the best and feel free to CAT me if you want / need anything. (I'm a Year 3 teacher btw and have taught year 4 for the past 8 years)

Thanks Dizzymama - def. planning on extension sheets. Can I exploit your goodwill and ask if you have any suggestions for a couple of circle time activities?
Alternatively if you know of a permanent job I could go to... I am really dreading doing this, but have got to make a start!

God Hon, been there and done that!

Right wracking my brain now....
How about the game where you choose someone to be in the centre of the cirle, take away their chair. They say 'Everyone wearing black socks' change and all children who have, have to swop chairs. Whoever is left in the middle has to ask another question - it's a good ice breaker!

More PHSE type one would be splitting the circle into partners and giving them three minutes to find out two things they have in common, each then feeds back one of their things to the circle.

Have just had circle time training so have a fair few ideas, unfortunately handouts are at work and I only do Thursdays and Fridays at the moment!
Have you tried looking at the web for ideas, there are a lot of fab teaching ideas sites out there. www.primaryresources.com is a good one.

Cheers for that - I keep thinking I should get Jenny Moseley's (sp?) book, but haven't done it yet. Maybe now is the time!
You lucky thing you, working 2 days/wk! I would love to get a part time job, but they are thinner on the ground than full time.
Thanks so much for the input, I really appreciate it!
