I know this post is late, but really you cant compare Rookwood and Farleigh on any level.

Rookwood is a nice enough school with good academic results. 99% of children are very local to school. I dont think it would exist in a nicer area with better state Senior schools or with a private school competitor.

Farleigh on the other hand is a very well regarded private school which would be such wherever it was located. It goes up to Yr 8, most children board, it is much more expensive, there are waiting lists, a completely different 'class' of families, many ex-Londoners, children go onto only the very best senior schools.

In my experience for the relatively wealthy professional Andover parent the choice is either Rookwood right through to 16, or a state primary in one of the villages (Clatford, Wherwell, Abbots Ann) and then travelling some distance to state seniors such as the grammars in Salisbury or Winchester schools.

this is an old thread and may no longer be relevant but I have 2 children at Farleigh and whilst it's been money well spent there are cheaper options like Rookwood until 6th form and then Peter Simmons?
