Punishing the class when one person misbehaves.

Is this a standard disciplinary practice? My dc has lost break times in the last couple of weeks because of one person misbehaving. It is really getting on her nerves and I have told her it's up to her to take it up with the teacher, but she doesn't want to get into trouble.
I've told her she'll have to suck it up then, although I do think it's rather unfair.

Just another mum adding my voice to those who feel it is lazy teaching.

At secondary school the form teacher did this regularly in th class my ds was in mainly due to the behaviour of one pupil. He had no interest in changing, and it continued for 5 years till this lad left at 16 - to join the army!

Losing breaktime for another child's poor behaviour is especially harsh and unhelpful for the children with SENs in the class for whom breaktime is desperately needed as they need to concentrate and try especially hard in lesson time to keep up with the rest of the class.

Really poor. I would strongly consider talking the the staff, probably on the lines of "DS tells me whole class being punished for individual infractions - surely there must be some misunderstanding, as clearly this wouldn't happen...."

Oh that little pearl! Yes unfortunatly my son has been the cause of a couple of late playtimes...and also I have noticed that his class have been late coming out on a number of occassions(no doubt due to someones behaviour not DS's otherwise the teacher would take great pleasure in telling me).. wonder if thats why he would rather do his work during playtime????
