the lolly game - just buy the lollies from BK(very cheap unless you know some-one who can get them from a cash & carry) and stick them through a card board box.
throwing table tennis balls into jam jars and getting a few small prize (20p a throw). The feed the santa with balls into his mouth wasn't half as popular, and again the beat the buzzer wasn't popular (could hardly hear the buzzer above the very excited children).
Lucky dip is always very very very popular (200-300 prizes - again BK are fantastic at this)
if you have help and time, we got the plaster kit and make hundeds of tree decorations and painted and glittered them. Or you could sell them blank to do at home.
Jam jar tombola is another very popular one (again lots of the toys in jam jars).

when's the fete? ours is next week, and we're panicking over lack of volunteers.

Our school does 'Guess the name of the cuddly toy'. Stuff like that is easy to organise, like 'lucky squares' and 'guess the number of sweets in a jar', 'Guess the weight of the cake', etc.

Throwing wet sponges or otherwise humiliating teachers goes down very well too.

codswallop · 20/11/2003 18:47

Ok I have orderes the tattoos and the lolly stall and the PTa bloke is really pleased. Quite like the ping pong idea too.

I love fetes - sad but true.

Finbar is ex Retail Management and is Talking footfall, turnover and hotspots!

All Greek to me!

sorry for those that don;t know - lolly game is where lollies are stuck through box or into a board, most are plain but one with a red stick means you get another pick and a blue stick means you win a prize. even if the kid doesn't win, they have still got a lolly.

codswallop · 20/11/2003 21:16

One that always goes down well at our local fete is nail painting!

Basically usually 2 volunteers spend all day painting little girls nails variuos lurid colours.

It costs nothing as everyone donates their spare colours - the more garish the better - and each child costs about 30 - 50p (can't remember how much) This is often combined with someone doing henna or fake tattoos for the boys, so everyone gets a look in!

codswallop · 02/12/2003 16:40

how much fir our tattoo stamps then? the kit cost 10 quid

OP posts:
Crunchie · 02/12/2003 16:53

It depends if it is tattoo stamps or something that takes a bit of time, I think the ones they did for us were painted on - so at least 50p+ for the time. If it is a stamp, 30p or so as it is quick and easy.

It depends, basically kids will be given £x to spend, and they will spend it on one thing or 10. The same money will be spent!

codswallop · 02/12/2003 18:39

50p for two?

OP posts:
helenmc · 02/12/2003 22:21

coddy - I worked out the lollies were 5p each so we sold them for 10p a lolly and every fifth was another lolly and every tenth was a small prize (Haribo sweets that cost 10p a packet), and we sold all 200 of them and could have sold more and perhaps had even fewer prizes.
ALl our games were 20p (ping pong, treasure hunt, feed the santa, hook a prize) 20a go and 50p for lucky dip. My childminder once made £200 on a sweetie tombola (I know I know, not good for the teeth, but was well impressed with £200) Good luck for saturday.
