hi ..has anyone else come across speedmark, offering football sponsorship events in schools..they keep fifty percent of the money raised for covering cost of inflatable goals etc and the schools get fifty per cent..this has just come via a sponsorship form to us but it seems worth investigating..apparently more than two million pounds was raised to date..half for a seemingly unaccountable private company

In what way is this a scam? Do you seriously expect them to do this for free? The way this is structured means that SpeedMark take the risk. If the event fails to cover its costs they end up out of pocket, not the school.

SpeedMark are a well established company, not "unaccountable" . They provide a good service and schools sign a contract before they work in the school. Schools raise funds, kids do exercise and the events are fun. The company provide good jobs in an area that really needs them. I'm confused why you use the word "scam" in your title ? My 3 sons all did such events when they were younger and enjoyed them a great deal.
They work in partnership with some very respected organisations like Sports England.
For more information here is the link to their website

It's shame that the idea that everything should be free or if not called a "scam" - hope this doesn't damage them.

Yes, DDs school have done it the last couple of years.
DD had to wait weeks for her mini football for raising enough money.
It's okay if you've got lots of rellies/friends to sponser the child, otherwise it's expensive ( i know school benefit), when the DC want to raise enough money for the mini football.

Am I right in thinking it's not a not for profit organisation?
I don't particularly want my child spending her time at school raising money for a private company.
