Teachers - any simple Xmas craft ideas for Y3 and 4?

I need to start thinking about Xmassy bits for two classes that I cover in Y3 and 4. Any simple, tried and tested ideas would be fantastic. I'm thinking in terms of a greetings card and maybe a table decoration? TIA.

Cardboard dodecahedron and a load of pyramids to stick onto the faces; spray gold=star

Felt Christmas trees; loads of green circles to string together into a discy pyramid, a bead on the top rather than a knot, a few brown/red bits at the bottom for a pot, then stick a whole load of bows, sequins etc on. Can do the same with Santas but a bit more tricky with what circles where! Or bigger trees with a stick in the middle.

Can also make a tree from loads of netting gathered up if they're up for a bit of sewing.

I do christmas 3D shapes with years 7 and 8 usually (actually all the kids like doing them right up to 6th form!). YOu can get nets for the 3D shapes from senteacher.org and just change the size on the photocopier so the faces fit. I do stellated icosohedron for older years but for yours, depending on how many lessons and how dextrous they are you could do a octahedron with 8 tetrahedra stuck on (one for each face). Get the kids to bring in cereal boxes though otherwise you'll use a whole year's worth of card!

Cheap plant pots decorated and with a bulb (something like a hyacinth or a couple of tete a tete daffodils) planted in make nice gifts for grannies!

DD has made felt robin decorations for the tree at school.

2 circles of brown felt.
smaller circle of red felt which is stitched on to one for a tummy
orange felt beak also stitched on
2 buttons for eyes
then the 2 brown circles stitched nearly the whole way round but just before closing stuff cotton wool in to pad it out.
sew a loop of ribbon on

Now this was a Year 5 and Year 6 class. So not sure if it might be too much for younger ones. But mums went in to help out. I think if you had a mum on each table it might work if you think you could get volunteers.

Thanks for your contributions - great ideas. We've got plenty of felt at school so that could be an option. I also have a secret stash of card so the 3D decorations are viable, too.

You could make anything Xmasy out of felt I suppose, if robins were too tricky then you could do circles and they could be Xmas baubles.

Stained glass window.

Get an empty laminating pouch per child. Stick a load of tissue paper inside it with pritt. Attempt to make nativity designs with said paper. use yellow paper for stars etc. Use black marker for edges.

laminate pouches and hang up in the windows.
