Summer school for pre-school age

I want to look into the possibility of Lottie going to a summer school this summer holidays. Not every day but maybe just a few days a week or whatever. I think it'll be good for her and take the pressure off my mum and my dad who'll be looking out for her and the new baby while I am at work.

Have looked on Google but first lot of pages were all irrelevant.

Any ideas on places I can start looking into?

We live in the Harrow area btw.

TIA.

Try childcarelink.gov.uk - you can search under your area for holiday schemes/out of school activities

How old is she? Some Stagecoach schools run Holiday Workshops for 4-8 year olds.

Any private schools nearby doing activity weeks ?

TC- check with your local CDC. Ours funds inclusion playscheme places. You choose then playscheme, they provide a helper which then allows the child to access the scheme. Completely unsuitable for ds1, but I have heard good reports from people it has worked for. Social services would know of any schemes like this in your area.

How old will she be?

DS goes to various holiday play schemes, all for children with mixed SN/disabilities. You might prefer m/s, I'm not sure. We access ours via Soc Svs (great because its free) and 2 local charities (one is £20 per day and the other £40 per day!). I would definitely check with Soc Svs as they would know about their own schemes, inclusion schemes and local charities. What about other local parents, do they have any ideas?

Our local montessori private school does summer schemes for toddlers to 12s. 8am to 6pm day care if required.

The leisure centre has various offerings, for preschoolers they do 2.5hr sessions am and pm, but not over lunch.

A good local childminder or nursery might have spaces over the summer if that would fit the bill.

If you have the money, could you employ someone either to assist your parents once or twice a week, or to take Lottie out on a trip? A student off a childcare course might suit, depending on what you and Lottie want and feel comfortable with.

I rang Social Services who told me to ring the LEA, I spoke to a lovely lady who gave me a number for Sure Start who run SN's summer schools round the corner from me, and where I used to help out at when I was a kid in my summer holidays! I'd forgetten all about them. Waiting for info to be sent through in pos
Think SN's group might be better as a sort term thing, will have to wait and see. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

BTW, Soc Svs can fund playschemes run by charities, school, privately etc.
