My DH may be transfering with his work to Glasgow. I have three DC 8, 3 and 15 months. I would like to know where is the best place to live Dh is happy to commute by train if needed up to 45 mins outside of Glasgow. My main proirity is pre schools and primary school which must feed into a good secondary school. We would like to live a nice town with good amenities and great for families. My DDs love ballet so would like to continue with this. Would consider living in Glasgow but havent got a clue about it have only been to Edinburgh and Inverness! I think we would like to be near countryside as well. We would be renting and require a 4 to 5 bed house budget up to £1500. If anyone can hwlp i would be so grateful I need to research as much as possible before any offer is accepted. The childrens happiness are so important as it will be a huge move for us. Many Thanks - sorry to be so vague but dont know where to start.

Linlithgow is a nice town with an excellent school. Try ESPC website for rentals. The best Glasgow suburb is Bearsden.

Try East Renfrewshire. Newton Means, Clarkston, Giffnock, etc. Great schools. Your DH can get the bus or the train to work.

Alll of the above count as suburbs of Glasgow. If you want something more villagey, try Eaglesham (no train, but the bus is fine). The primary school there feeds to Mearns Castle.

You might want to look at houses in the catchment area for Jordanhill school too (actually in Glasgow). The east ren secondaries you're probably interested in are Williamwood and Mearns Castle. Also St Ninians if you're catholic.

I would suggest Milngavie (Millguy) as it's great for commuting, but also is really near Loch Lomond and the Trossachs if you like to get out and about.

we lived in paisley. it was great for the commute, but if i had to do it again i'd go further out and village-y. some beautiful areas.

wherever you end up, you must spend large amounts of time at this place - my kids adored it, my dogs adored it, it's fantastic, and even better slightly off season when it's damp and the leaves are falling. they do great weekend stuff and seasonal events too. Grin

but yy, loch lomond and all that jazz too. Grin
