DD watched Incredibles, madagascar something else & had a quiz.

DS watched Charlie & choc factory & it seems little else.

Apart from the nightmare of childcare (I am working mum), what is point of school for today & tomorrow? Kids are hyper & only killing time?

Anyone agree?

we broke up last friday! No school today.
Are most people at school still?

LOL - my dd has come home with an array of home-made cards and decorations today. They also went carol singing at the sheltered housing complex next door to the school. Tomorrow they are playing games. Dd is taking her cuddly cat and a book in and doesn't want to wear her uniform - a grand life eh?

The kids I teach did!

Year 11 had a test (their request!)
Year 9 made me posters on Drag and Streamlining (which were excellent btw)
My two sixth forms had a revision class on how to revise and how to approach andwering exam questions.

I only teach once tomorrow and that class is also having a test!

They then finish on Tuesday, but we have two inset days!

DD doesn't stop until Friday and she was very busy today, learning things about the letter U!!

Kelly1978 · 19/12/2005 16:48

I think dd spent the best part of the day piggin out. It was the school party and she looked rather ill well I collected her.

IOTAnnenbaum · 19/12/2005 16:55

school party here too, so no, no work done today

butty · 19/12/2005 16:56

DD doesn't break up till tomorrow although she has brought a shed load of pictures home and when looking at what was in the bag i was totally to find a pair of knickers that she had had a slight accident involving a number 2 in amongst all her drawings and cards!!!!!!!!!! for her!!!!!!!!!!
They could have at least rinsed them and put them into a seperate bag!!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from that i think they have spent today watching films or so she says.!!!!!!

It was the Christmas parties today so they have spent the day making a party hat, seeing Santa, and filling up on all kinds of crap food that the PTA smuggled past the healthy eating radar.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be normal school days, and they'll be busy learning their words and numbers as usual.

I taught Yr 11 all day - Drama exam. Doing the same all day tomorrow. Exhausting but better than countless re-runs of Harry Potter dvd.

sparklymieow · 19/12/2005 17:08

kids already broken up Ds' birthday today

myrrhthamoo · 19/12/2005 17:17

Ds1 (Year 4) doesn't break up 'til Thursday and they are having tests this week They are having a mega whole half term of spellings test, a maths test and a literacy test. They do have a party tomorrow though (and, gee, thanks school for the 3 day notice to make a sodding party hat )

Actually I'm glad he's at school 'til Thursday. Ds2 finished last week and two manically excited boys bombarding round the house I can do without!

Glitterygook · 19/12/2005 17:21

Not sure what's gone on today except making cakes. Can't get much else out of ds1 - I'm not bothered anyway, he's only 4 and it's been a long half term (7 weeks) and they are all shattered anyway.

Despite plays, parties etc last week, he read twice (it's in his reading record book).

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2005 17:22

Both DS1 and 2 did (6 and 4) Tomorrow, however, DS1 has to bring in a board game.

And the point is that it's two days less that we have to deal with hyper kids ourselves!

Glitterygook · 19/12/2005 17:23

Exactly soups - who cares as long as we can still get on with a few things uninterrupted?!

Icemum · 19/12/2005 20:11

My DD (year 6)has spent all day doing arts and crafts, no numeracy etc. However the teacher still saw fit to set the class 4 sides of A4 sheets of litercy homework tho'. Have refused to let her do it on principle!

Hulababy · 19/12/2005 20:33

It's only one day - why not let them have so fun and see a different side of their teachers for the day. I think it can work really well tohave fun sessions on the last day of term - everyone relaxes and has fun, pupils and teachers. School should be much more than just simply teaching and learning.

foxinsocks · 19/12/2005 20:35

mine have done nothing since after their Xmas play last week (and they finish tomorrow!).

I don't mind at all - they've both come back with loads of colouring and Xmas decorations and when I went to pick dd up today, their teacher was singing carols with them! (I also think they watched the old BBC version of lion, witch and the wardrobe and Shrek).

motherinfurriercoatnoknickers · 19/12/2005 20:56

DD1 has done zip. Good for her. I'd do zip and eat crisps and dash around with my mates given half the chance. I like a spot of seasonal Saturnalia.

Jasnem · 19/12/2005 20:56

I really wouldn't want to try and get 30 4-5 yr olds to do any work this week. They're way too excited!
Mine coloured, played, sang, saw a magician, and had her party. Absolutely fine with me.

butterflymum · 19/12/2005 21:22

Nope - but then our boys' school finished on Friday 16th (and doesn't start back until Wednesday 4th)!

Linnet · 19/12/2005 21:53

My dd is at school until Friday. I thought they would have broken up on Wednesday so took the day off, but now I have two extra days to shop .
She has her party tomorrow and I'm not sure what is planned for the rest of the week, some work I suppose otherwise there would be no point being there.

For those who's schools broke up last week, when do they go back to school?
WE go back on January 9th.
