Books on phonics and general studying techniques

Hi

I know it's nearly Christmas and other things are probably more pressing but does anyone know of any good books on teaching children to read using the new phonics system that the government are going to be introducing (or re-introduing from the 60s!)? I noticed it's also one of the news items on the mumsnet homepage

Also are there any good ones on general studying for slightly older children - there seems to be loads when you get to GCSE age but not much for younger ones.

Not sure that this is what you have in mind, but there is a free web-page here that my children ADORE! DS2 is 3 3/4 and knows nearly all of his letter sounds and is starting to read 2 and 3 letter phonetic words. They have workbooks and puzzles that you can order for minimal cost or free printables as well.

Other classic one is the Jolly Phonics range sold at ELC etc... The American videos are rubbish (the consonant sounds are pronounced with vowel sounds after ie dUH) but the books, workbooks and posters are fabulous.

HTH.

Sorry, don't have any suggestions about study books for the slightly older children but I hope that someone is along shortly because I would find that helpful as well.

Thanks. That website looks great. Let's hope somone has ideas on study guides. The only one that I've found that looks even vaguely appealing is Mind Maps for Kids but there doesn't seem to be anything else.
