Reporting back from the Nativity Play front line...

Ds1 has had his reception nativity play. Very sweet and lovely, of course, especially the somewhat confused shepherds who were huddled together onstage for several minutes before the teacher hissed their forgotten line to them. Bless. Anyway, ds1 was one of the narrators and so was standing most of the time down at the front of the stage. During the final song, he quite happily hitched up his (lovingly made) Eastern robe, put his hand down his gym shorts which were underneath, had a good rummage around, and then dropped his skirts back down. And he didn't stop singing through the whole thing. I disowned him, naturally...

Any other tales from this years productions?

I saw ds in his nativity play for Nursery & Reception children yesterday as well. Very sweet except when the wise men / kings came to give the presents to Jesus, Joseph (DS) & Mary were fighting to be the one to take the present. Luckily not punching each other but holding down each others hands and elbows in the ribs etc

I'm going today but aparently in yestaday's performance (they do it 3 times) Joseph got stage fright and sat with his mum in the audience!

Teaching assistant forgot to turn off the CD player at the correct time and let out a resounding Oh S**t, the silence was deafening!!

My DDs had their reception nativity yesterday and I was stunned how much effort all the little ones put into it, the teachers must have spent hours teaching them the wonderful songs - it wasn't the usual "away in the manger" stuff which they are all familiar with, but songs I had never heard of. Absolutely fantastic and brought a tear to my eye. Quite an achievement to get 60 4 and 5 year olds on a stage singing and saying their lines for 45 minutes. Bless them.

45 mins long, sandy - that brilliant - ds1's was about 20 and I was impressed with that. My sister called me this morning to say that her dd in Y1 was the drummer for her nativity and had to lead the whole school in to the auditoprium, banging her drum all the way and they all had to keep in time with her! Sis was so proud at dn being such a star! Can't wait to see the video. Off to dd's nursery production on Monday, she's one of the twinkling stars which is good as Binkle Binkle Little Tar is the only song she can sing.
