I don't know the answer, but am bumping for you popsycal.

Pixiefish · 21/11/2005 21:33

Depends where you are on the scale popsy.

Top of the scale but without the threshold is about £140.

Divide the per annum by 195 days and you'll get your answer xx HTH

popsycalindisguise · 21/11/2005 21:34

first rung of threshold....

Pixiefish · 22/11/2005 13:00

so it'll probably be about 150. Not got the current payscales to check but just divide the annual by 195

Blandmum · 22/11/2005 13:11

make sure you check how much supply you can get as well. One of our suply teachers has had no work this half term becuaes the school now uses cover supervisors for short term supply. Her only work has been longer term, maternity cover etc

Pixiefish · 22/11/2005 15:27

Also make sure you tell them that you'll do one to one- if you're willing to that is. Expelled kids will get 15 hours a week with a home tutor. Ill kids get 5 hrs a week (as the school are responsible for setting work etc).

You do it either in the kids home if there's a parent there or in a local council run building (eg other school or leisure center etc) where there are other adults. You can specify that you won't do 'violent' kids etc- pretty much pick and choose your kids as there's a real shortage.
pay is exactly the same as school

Ailsa · 22/11/2005 17:29

First rung of threshold is £154 per day.

spykid · 22/11/2005 17:30

Check how many hours you are paid for.
Good supply rate is 6 1/2 hours

popsycalindisguise · 22/11/2005 21:19

thanks folks...I have a few phone calls to make...and will bare in mind your comments

roisin · 22/11/2005 21:24

Why?
Are you thinking of giving up a contract and doing supply?

popsycalindisguise · 22/11/2005 21:57

i am......

roisin · 23/11/2005 00:46

I'd echo martianbishop's advice to check out the reliability of your market carefully before making the step.

I'm sure it's not a move you're considering lightly, and hope whatever you decide to do works out to your satisfaction, and meets your current needs better.

Let us know how you get on.

Roisin

popsycalindisguise · 23/11/2005 19:25

I will do...am currently doing my research on supply and have a few other irons in the fire

AMerryScot · 27/11/2005 14:23

It probably depends where you are, Popsycal.

I am on the books of an agency based in Berkshire, and their rates are £115 for daily supply (no preparation or marking), and £150 for longer term work.

The international school that I have worked at pays a lot less than this, but the work is much easier (no discipline issues, small class sizes, you only cover for one teacher) so I think it is a good deal.

Surrey schools pays you according to your spine point divided by 190, which is a good deal for experienced teachers doing daily supply.
