Sleepovers

When did your kids start having sleepovers with their school friends? My DS keeps asking for his mate to stay but he is only 5 in year 1. TBH can't think of anything worse at the moment.

i had one with my best friend when we were about 5 or 6

but we had known each other forever and our mums were really good friends (still are)

Great! No need to feel guilty then.

My daughter and friends all seemed to start them as an 8th birthday present. So someyears to go yet!

My dd (7) had two friends sleep over for first time in October for her birthday. I knew one mum very well and had never met the other mum. I was actually quite shocked she let her as in the reverse I would not have. It was dd's choice who she invited but I really thought that only the one would be allowed. My dd is to attend a sleepover in December which will be her first and I feel okay with it because I have known the parents for two years and have drilled dd on nooone is allowed to touch her private parts except her etc etc. I would only allow her to sleep when I have known the parents for quite some time. My biggest fear generally is her being molested but I guess I have to take the chance with people I feel I can trust. I also would not be allowing it every other week - once every few months would be it for her.

dd1 is 5 in Year 1 and has had one particular friend over for a sleepover while her mum went away for a couple of days. She has also slept there once.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, tbh. DS (aged 5 and in year 1) has slept over with friends on 3 occasions. He absolutely loved it and it was a real break for me (single parent).

Acid test will be in a few weeks time when there will be a return visit...

I find them more trouble than they're worth to be honest until the kids are a lot older than yours, and I would NEVER allow my children to sleep at a friend's house unless I knew the parents extremely well.
