I?m looking for information to see if you can do a Post Graducate Certificate of Education after qualifying as a chartered accountant but without a degree.

As Chartered Accountancy is a post graduate course I?m hoping you might be able to but can?t find any info on this anywhere.
Was thinking of teaching Business Studies or Accounting at AS/A-level.

It is my understanding if you did your degree in Accounting and then did your PGCE you could then teach it. Wanted to know if instead of having the degree you could have a Chartered Accountancy qualification?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You certainly could at one stage but when my friend started teaching she started on a lower pay scale as she didn't have a good honours degree. Since then the pay structure has changed. I suggest looking on the TDA site.

You need a degree to do a PGCE or GTP and get QTS BUT you don't need QTS to work in post 16. So if you only want to teach A Level you can do a teaching adults qualification while you work. (NVQ type thing I think) Try ringing a local college to ask if they would consider you. Or go on TES website and ask for advice there. Either way you need to get some classroom experience. This would be useful anyway as you need to really really want to teach to do it as a career. And in your case you will presumably be taking a big pay cut!!

If you do want to teach business in a school - you will need QTS, so PGCE or GTP, and remember there are cuts in this area at the moment as schools cut 'vocational' type courses to employ more language teachers to meet the criteria of the EBac.
