ok,
before I research, I'd be interested in the mass opinion please....
DS y4 - bright and sporty
DD y1 - talkative, confident, middle of class, poss sporty too.

Which private schools do people like/dislike
around Oxford? Prefer countryside I think.

I do! Most kids use the 280 public bus, leaves Thame at 7.25 gets to Oxford centre by 8.10 ish. Jeffs schools service leaves a little earlier and stops at various schools with OHS being the last stop. Public bus is great option and very cheap.

Thank you Honesty! So does that mean that the roads going into Oxford at that aren't too bad? I mean, how long do you think it would take to drive to North Oxford at that time of the morning if I went in the car?

OP I was in your situation last year and chose Headington Prep for my DD now 7. She loved it there. Although in Oxford can get in from the ring road and just down London road - a lot easier than trying to get into north Oxford. I work Ft in central Oxford so preferred a central school - some of the ones in the country had more of a country club feel - eg chandlings - which I didn't like.

Anyway re Headinton Prep - its a good school with great mix of girls and very good teachers.

Yes I was thinking maybe of Headington - driving from Thame and hoping that traffic on By pass and along London road wouldnt be too bad

Elisabetta there are a lot of girls at Headington based in Wheatley and Thame. It's a fairly easy run from the motorway and tbh prob easier than getting to Chandlings from Thame.

North Oxford is a pain from Thame, two buses or you have to use Jeffs school bus company which runs to OHS.
My dd was a Headington prep, easy on Jeffs or even better on public bus. An easy car drive from Thame, busy at times but do able. IMO getting to OHS is a step too far, but OTOH lots of children do it at 2ry level.
