Schools in Horsham

Tell me about (state) schools in Horsham.

Following on from my last thread, I'm now scouring the country for places with good schools which we can afford to live in!

SEriously, DH currently commutes to Waterloo in 1hr 15 min. He's moving to Victoria, so if we're thinking of moving anyway, somewhere on the line into Victoria might make sense.

So, Horsham anyone?

DD is 6, DS is 2. We'd need to be near stations for commute to London.

Right, you have a choice of either the Oakhill Area which is in the Kingslea Primary School catchment with Millais, & Forest Boys secondary schools. Kinglsea is a medium sized primary (2 form intake) which is usually full in the infant years. Millais is an Outstanding girls secondary school with specialist language school status. Forest boys has an engineering school specialism. (I don't know so much about this as my 2 dd's went to/are attending Millais) Or if you go nearer Littlehaven station you have more primary schools to choose from depending on which side of the railway line you choose to live. If the Roffey side then it would be Littlehaven Infants followed by North Holmes Juniors or if the Holbrook side then there is North Heath Primary School, Holbrook Primary School or All Saints Primary school which is a Cof E voluntary Aided School. None of these primary schools are bad, with some better than others but different schools suit different people.

Also in the North Heath Area you tend to get the choice of an alternative secondary school which is Tanbridge House School, this is the only mixed secondary school in the town.

If you want the main station rather than Littlehaven (a few morer trains as not all stop at Littlehsven) you can also go for the Trafalgar area of the town, but this is a slightly longer walk to the station. Over there you have Trafalgar Infant School followed on by Greenway Junior school.

Slightly further out from the Kingslea catchment area is the St Leonard's Road, Comptons Lane area which has a primary school called Heronway, parts of this area are walkable to the station, but are more pricey.

If you have any further questions I am happy for you to contact me.
