I found some free maths games here: www.enthuseeducation.co.uk/freegames
I have only used the times tables one, but I thought the bit on what to do if your child struggles with times tables was useful. We followed the idea about the building towers and it did really help.
Does anyone else have any ideas about how to help a 6 year old learn their simple times tables? She is ok with the 2's, but none of the others.

As mum of a 9yo who has only just grasped her 2's, 5's and 10's reliably I would say first and foremost, don't panic! I know it sounds trite but they do learn at their own pace.

My DD is good at a lot of the other stuff in Maths but just has a really hard time with her tables.

And then persevere - bring it into everything you can think of, we had them in magnetic form on the fridge, a poster in her room - I hoped it might sink in subliminally!

Maybe Maths just isn't her thing - does she shine in or really love any other areas?

And thanks for the recommendation by the way - Playing games on the computer is a good way for me to get her to do maths - I trade 'learning' time for 'fun' time (Club Penguin and Disney!)

Lots of free tables games here

thanks, she seems to be doing ok with other areas in maths - especially shapes. The times tables just don't seem to be sticking though. I think I'll look for some magnets for the fridge - she seems to learn best if she can actually handle things rather than just see them on paper.
