I am a state school AST, top of my scale and fed up of paper, paper PAPER!
DS is at a lovely prep and I would love a job there. Am I mad to give them my CV?? It would be BlushBlushBlush if they didn't want me :(
Friends say I'm mad, end of my career etc... but I want to teach in the ethos I believe in for my DS IYSWIM?
Would there be a fee reduction for DS if I did teach at his school?
Would you wait to see if they ever advertise or go for the CV now??

Any advice???

In the last prep school I was at in the UK I was encouraged to recruit parents. They are less likely to rock the boat, moan to the governors and you know once they are in they are staying for the 75% off fees. It sounds harsh but that is what happens. In my case, I was responsible for the pastoral care of 300 boarders. It was well known that there was a member of staff who bullied the kids. Not one single member of staff would speak about it on the record because they were so scared of losing their 75%. Up side is the freedom to actually teach and less ratbags. If you do get a job at your kid's school, please still stand up for what is right-I wish I had.

I worked in an independent secondary for a year as an 'artist in residence', bt i was essentially a cheap (unqualified!) art teacher and had to write reams of report cards every term. Don't think you can avoid paperwork that easily.
