398 of the top 1000 are independent
Of the top 100 schools 80 are private and 19 grammar. Only one is a comp but it is a partially selective comprehensive.

(England only)
My older children's schools are 5th, 24th and 35th, not too bad.

The % ho get A or A* is proper subjects is a good measure and the fact they give the position in 2009 and 2008 too so you can see if a school has just had a bizarre year.

55th,26th and 43rd.

horsemadmom · 26/02/2011 16:54

I meant 5th....

SixtyFootDoll · 26/02/2011 17:02

Nice to know there is a level playing field out there

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2011 17:06

can't see it :(

freshmint · 26/02/2011 17:12

5th and joint 43rd (joint with horsemadmums school I think)

Xenia · 26/02/2011 17:14

It is slighly revelatory except those 3 of mine have left school then so disclosing 5th etc doesn't really matter.

It's the best 1000 in state and private for A levels I think. Our local comp which gets 34% A - C in GCSE basket weaving or whatever isn't in there because it has no sixth form even if the results were better.

My old school is 212. Not quite the lofty heights of 5... But I notice it has dropped from 113 the year before - that's quite a slide!

AMumInScotland · 26/02/2011 17:17

Well what a surprise, selective schools get higher exam results Hmm. Anyone want a crash course in statistics?

belledechocchipcookie · 26/02/2011 17:18

Ds's has dropped 64 points.

Xenia · 26/02/2011 17:19

No one will be surprised. The principal inequity is that vast swathes of the UK have no selective state schools - they disappeared from where I grew up in 1970 whereas places like Kent and bucks etc have state grammars. Either the staet likes grammars or they don't but I don't see how they can say parts of the country get them and some don't. It's very unfair.

pointydog · 26/02/2011 17:24

So what

catinthehat2 · 26/02/2011 17:25

please correct me if necessary, but these look like A level only results - where does IB fit in I wonder.
Also, some of the schools are sinking down the rankings year on year, is this related?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2011 17:26

how can you all see it and not me? do you all subscribe to the FT?

geordieminx · 26/02/2011 17:26

((((coughs))))) 936......

belledechocchipcookie · 26/02/2011 17:31

Yes Kitten Grin If you PM and tell me which school I'll look it up for you and PM you the result.

Still 160 something which is very high for this region.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2011 17:32

awww belle thank you :)

belledechocchipcookie · 26/02/2011 17:32
Smile
Xenia · 26/02/2011 17:36

I don't subscribe (but it get it delivered by the newsagent in paper form) but I got behind the firewall through google searching it rather than getting on the link above so that might be worth trying.

Yes it is A levels. My daughter's odl school North London C which is 5th does IB and A level - I think they had a really h igh IB score too but I'm not sure how the FT has dealt with IB. MOst schools don't do the IB.

AnnoyingOrange · 26/02/2011 17:37

these's a list here www.university-list.net/uk/rank/school-100001.html

don't know if it's the same as the FT one

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2011 17:38

oh very clever Xenia. Worked for me.

Xenia · 26/02/2011 17:41

That's a slightly different and probably not quite such a good list although most of the good schools are high up in both lists. The FT one has been going a long time and excludes "rubbish" a levels in non subjects and gives you positions over time too because all schools sometimes get a rogue good or bad year.

OP posts:
weblette · 26/02/2011 17:42

67 and 97 for our catchment grammars, 2nd and 3rd in the county.

southeastastra · 26/02/2011 17:44

all these clever educated children and the world is still in a mess and being run by morons.

what does it really matter in the whole scheme of things anyway

lostinwales · 26/02/2011 17:46

They don't do Wales anymore, such a shame, I used to love pointing out to my father that the local secondary DS1 will be going to always ranks way, way higher that the private schools we all went to and he would love to send my DS's to!

belledechocchipcookie · 26/02/2011 17:47

It would be accurate to say that most of the schools in the list are in southern England, highlighting yet another inequality.
