I knew a man years ago who taught there. He seemed to be very positive about it.
It really was years ago though, probably about 20.

I had a boyfriend who had been there, he was quite nice but his family very snobby - that was 20 years ago too Grin

Hi, We have two children at Felsted Prep and our experience has been very positive. Headmistress is fabulous, staff are kind but discipline strong. Extra curricular activities are many and varied - riding, art, fencing, drama, shooting in year 7, swimming, triathlon etc etc.

my brothers went there 30 years ago and it was very good - the head was a frustrated actor and appointed staff for their eccentricity. They had a lot of fun. The school plays were insane, they used to do completely inappropriate French farces.

(sorry, not much help to you)

OOh thank you everyone for your memories of Felsted. Happymummy2011 we are attending the meeting on saturday and hope to transfer our DD at Easter. Do either of yours do tennis or riding? Gymnastics was also mentioned. Have you found it a kind school as we are moving my DD as she has not made friends at her current school (we are military and they are a tight knit group) How have yours coped with the long school day ( we will also have a 30/40 minute commute). Thank you and all in confidence :)

Hi, the long school day does take its toll - and if your daughter would have a long journey home afterwards then that is definitely something to take into account. Also, of course in Year 5, Saturday school until 2pm is compulsory. I know some families hate the disruption to family life caused by Saturday school, it's not for everyone. Mine haven't gone down the riding route, but have enjoyed some tennis lessons. Our headmistress comes down like a ton of bricks at the merest whiff of any bullying going on, and I find that reassuring. My kids certainly havent had any problems in that department thank goodness. Would definitely go and have a good look on Sat and get a feel for it. My children love the place (so I do too!)

Thank oyu so much. Travel time is 35 minutes so not too bad and I think I iwll make a continental breakfast fo rher to eat in the car. She laready odes tennis and it would be nice if that was with the same group of people rather than a different club. At the mment even though she is in independent I am still having to drive her places for swimming, piano etc and to be honest it is a pain! Very excited to see it on Saturday..... Hope she passes the exam Grin
