my 14yr old son is persistently being excluded from school,he is infact more than capeable of achieving good gcse passess if he was given a stable and more fulfilling environment to study in ie at home. if he is excluded again do i need to keep going into the school and being treated like a monster mum to re enrole him or is ehe technically de registered from that school therefor i do not require lea permission to remove him from school.
he was targeted at 28% in a science exam, got moved beside the teacher for 2 weeks and then hit a wopping 60 plus percent for his 3rd year study level exam and recommended for two sciences, surely the school themselves have proven he would be better of home educated to allow him to achieve to his best ability.
thanks for reading as i am slightly confused if exclusion requiring re enrolement means he is no longer a pupil at that school

Who is dealing with your case? Is he on the role of a school at present? Do you have contact with the EWO (Educational Welfare Officer)? Who else is involved?

I know of one child, who wasn't finally excluded but withdrawn and studying using Oxford Education. Do get advice, especially if there is any funding available. (Do talk to the school to see if they will let him sit his exams there as an extrenal candidate and if they agree get that in writing).

You do not require LA permission to deregister in any case. However, if he is being excluded regularly, it might be worth asking the school if he can "flexi-school" - they keep him on roll but mark him on the register as educated elsewhere. You could then agree that he attends for certain things, that they mark coursework, etc.
