I am slowly giving in to taking things to School, I now let DS1 take scoobies as long as they are only played with at playtime/lunchtime. When I have been taking DS2 to nursery I have to pass through the playground at lunch time and most of the younger children have scoobies, small toys, dreaded trading cards etc with them.

It will be the cards soon MrsSpoon

I just wish the school would have a rule then stick to it. My DD regularly points out toys and stuff that other kids have brought in, so I end up giving in.

At the moment, I'm saying "no" to the cards, such a waste of money! Trying to convince DS1 there are better things to spend a fiver on.

oooooooooooooops sorry thought I was diabetic thread

IMHO don't let them start on pokemon cards

puffinthedark · 03/10/2005 11:46

No.

I confiscated everything until the end of term when I was teaching.

paolosgirl · 03/10/2005 11:49

Our lot are only allowed to take toys in on a Friday for Golden Time (if they have any Golden Time left that is!)

Weatherwax · 03/10/2005 11:56

The arrival of scoobies was great as I didn't have to take the knots out of dd1's hair any more . Her school does not mind skipping ropes/balls etc for lunch time but after a term they started to confiscate tamagotchi's, a bit late to my mind!

Sparks · 03/10/2005 12:23

In my dd's school they are allowed to take a toy that fits in their pocket. It's actually discouraged though because inevitably the toys get lost or broken, which leads to upset, etc. DD would be heatbroken if her tamagochi went missing

sunnydelight · 03/10/2005 14:28

Lots of kids in DS2s class bring toys in, but as far as I know the school policy is not to so I always say no - I just think it causes grief for the teachers when things get lost/broken. I wish the school would enforce it though as my son things I'm being mean!

Every other girl in DS's school has a schoobie thingie on her bookbag strap.
I would let DS take something in if it fit easily in his bookbag, where he understands that it is supposed to stay all day.
