Getting a course accredited - anyone know where to start?

I've been running a short self-development course for young people 'at risk' for a while now (can't say too much about it for obvious reasons).

I may be able to get quite a significant chunk of funding from a funding body to develop this further, but they have asked me to look into getting the course properly accredited, e.g. the young people get a qualification or cert out of it.

No idea where to start.

Any ideas?

p.s posting this in a few places, as not sure where it fits - apologies!

in northern ireland we have NIOCN - this is their link

www.niocn.co.uk/

easy enough process to go through - and they have great advisers

i'm sure they are in each country ?

I would start off with contacting OfQual (used to be QCA) they accredit courses within the national framework.

Ofqual do accredit qualifications but they need to be through a recognised awarding body - details here: www.ofqual.gov.uk/qualification-and-assessment-framework/89-articles/145-explaining-the-qualifications-and-credit-framework

It may be a good starting point to contact a local college or university to see if they would act as the awarding organisation for you.

You could ring City & Guilds - 02072942787 and ask to speak to someone in product development. Many new quals are started this way.
