And if Waltzing Matilda grabs you and you have some time to write the words down, this might amuse you too (and be helpful)

katymac · 21/09/2005 21:46

Look at Lonleymum link there is sunarise (which is lovely)

Lonelymum · 21/09/2005 21:48

And tie me kangaroo down sport which is very simple to learn (very repetitive) and good for playing percussion instruments to.

Kenya (Luo) lullaby

Hombe, hombe [fevers, fevers - i.e. from an illness]
Hombe, Hombe
Nyathi ma ywak, ondiek mak e [the child who cries will be caught by the hyena]
Nyathi ma ling, ondiek wey e [the child who is quiet will be left alone by the hyena]
Hombe, Hombe, Hombe, Hombe, Hombe

We sang this song, which has a lovely, gentle melody, in our school choir. Years later, I learned to speak Luo and was stunned by the words!
CAT me if you want me to try to get the melody to you.
