The child is 7 months old now. Both parents are in full time employment. Currently grandmother is taking care of the child. From direct.gov.uk website I can see that

"All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year."

If both parents are working are there any other or additional nursery education from 3 years old or younger?

At the moment there are some tax credits for certain circumstances/income which can help with the cost before aged 3 and some areas offer it to selected 2 year olds. However I would n't rely on there being any free childcare available in a few years' time. The current Early Years Funding doesn't apply to all settings even now.

Lucinda - has it occured to you that the GPs may not WANT to look after the OPs Dc's full time and may only be doing it as an emergency stop gap?

Some GPs actually have their own lives, you know.

Have you actually got any useful advice for the OP or are you just going to carry on pushing your own agenda?

not for free , working parents are expected to pay for child care.

IF child is in a workless household there is some provision for free early years education from 2 yrs ( may not be country wide yet).
