sorry but are teachers on a different planet to the rest of us or what? coz on the planet I occupy that's just not do-able (unless you're a Carol Sarler style sahm ) (MN teachers excluded of course)

Our school is a bit like that too - short notice for everyone. Nightmare if you work, hard enough if you are a SAHM. Can you provide cakes for tomorrow's fete?, can you wear yellow tomorrow for hospice fundraiser? etc etc. Ask the head/secretary if a bit more notice could be given, I'm sure they'd oblige.

If you can't make it, they will just have to reschedule taking into account that you are not available at such short notice.

I found out today that I have a meeting on Thursday to attend, I only found out today as I saw someone had wrote it down. If I hadn't spotted it, I wouldn't have known until Thursday!

it's more a case of if I can't make it tough - it's a general thing for all parents. well, all parents that can do stuff at short notice. I'm being a bit of an arse, coz in actual fact I think dh can go. BUT IT'S THE PRINCIPLE

I wouldn't be able to do that short notice either, it's rubbish imo.

Aargh, schools and communication with parents - don't get me started!!! Ours does similar things to what's been mentioned already, and it drives me bananas. They are from another planet, definitely, one where people are available on weekdays, finish work at 3, & have all summer off !!

nooka · 13/09/2005 21:54

Mine does this too. I'm sure that they plan these things in advance, so why can't they tell me!

i would write a letter stating that you feel like you are being excluded from participating in decision making processes and/or the educational welfare of your child. you would strongly urge them to consider that parents have other responsibilities such as other children to consider or work.
