When should schools put the heating on?

Have just come home shivering because school won't switch on until November to save money. Any others like this or is ours stingy on it's own? Not taken my coat off all day Blush

We moaned at the end of September because we were freezing and the staffroom was 14 degrees. But then we don't pay our heating bill - we are a PFI school.

Temp should always be above 16C. Any colder than that and you can refuse to remain. Do your colleagues think it's cold? And the kids?

If you can get the parents onside, either directly or via the kids telling them.

Consider involving your union if you don't make any progress.

My room was 31 degrees with the heating turned off last winter!

Have you seen those progs about Chinese schools where they all wear their coats in class in the winter?

wish ours wouldn't put the heating on. The children always come out so red faced and sleepy from the tropical heat....

School classrooms have to be at least 18 degrees, Meow75.

You can have some of our heat!

Had to have my windows open yesterday which are directly above the radiators Hmm
