Eleven plus results - not what we hoped for

DS has just got his eleven plus results and he failed by ten points :( more due on Monday. Am feeling very :( for him, and quite suprised that he didn't pass. Older two DC both passed and he is just as bright as they are. Not sure how best to handle it - still has one more test to take but am wondering whether he should leave it.

Can you still appeal an 11 plus result? Might be worth looking in to. Also, if he was borderline in one test then he could do better in the next - nothing ventured nothing gained surely?

I know lots of kids who failed one test and passed the other. DD had more than ten points between her two tests. Don't give up now, if you feel that this is right for your DS.

Go for the second test, unless you want to teach your DS that you give up on things at the first sight of a set-back. You say that he is just as bright as the other two so is there a problem with demonstrating this - did he slip up with exam technique?

What does his school say, would they back an appeal?

Hi.. I'm in Kent awaiting 11+ results on Monday. Where are you then that gets them today?
Also can I ask what you mean by 10 points? we were advised min of 117 on all papers, so do you mean 107 on 1 test?

Hi, we live in Trafford and are awaiting results (expected Wednesday by post) for the 11+. We only went for the one. I'm undecided whether it's been worth all the stress. I guess we'll find out on Wednesday!

Don't panic too much. My DD "failed", went to the Comprehensive and is now in her second year at Cambridge :)

Do you think he would cope at a grammar? If yes, I would appeal, especially if you are on the border of two LA's.
If not, he may be better being at the top of a comp, rather than struggling at the bottom.

Thank you all for the advice. He passed the Kent 11 plus and so I guess he will sit the next one.
