Has the ECM agenda fallen by the wayside? I'm sure I read somewhere that con-dems were ditching it but can't find info online. Has anyone heard anything in staffrooms etc. Ta.

I have heard the same, although not officially.

Will have a look...

This thread may shed some light, although it's a bit out of date.

Gove has banned the phrase www.literacytrust.org.uk/news/2357_government_to_ban_use_of_phrase_every_child_matters but not the practice.

Thanks for these. Just mugging up for (possible!) interview and didn't want to look out of date!

I'd ask the school or whatever about how they see things going. Its still on the PGCE syllabus.

ECM is a bit like Animal Farm. It sounds like a good idea but in practice it's riddled with unlesses, ifs and howevers. Every child most certainly DOES NOT matter if you happen to home educate or have the audacity to have a child with a disability.

SpookyNoise · 16/10/2010 09:32

It's very hard to make every single child matter in a class of 34...

streaksofbloodonthebaconslicer · 16/10/2010 09:47

I agree. The problem is that we're led to believe that they do. Unrealistic expectations set out as government policy.
