Open days for 6th form college, why MUST you take parents?

Browsing the local rag this week, I noticed that all the schools with 6th forms, and 6th form colleges are advertising their open evenings.
One of them very clearly stated that you MUST bring a parent/adult, they won't let you in otherwise, and they will only allow two students per adult.
Surely this discriminates against youngsters with less support from home? Doesn't affect me for a good few years, but it made me feel uncomfortable.

That does seem very unfair given the range of different family situations there may be.

There is a danger of gangs of young people wandering around generally causing trouble and nicking the odd laptop.

Our place takes any unaccompanied pupils around with a teacher or other employee.

Yup. You think they don't realise that?

Tokyo, that's how it felt to me, that this particular college only wants the sort of student who has supportive parents. But it's NOT FAIR is it?
