Key stage 1 revision books

Do you think it is worthwhile buying the keystage revision books (I think they are by letts) DD is going into Year 2 so will be doing her sats this year. She is doing okay in school and enjoys school work. She gets us to give her sums and spellings to do at home, just as long as they don't look or sound too hard!

I don't want to force extra work on her but at the same time, I don't want her to struggle with the sats. I've not even mentioned them to her, there is plenty of time for that.

I just want to know if anyone used them and found them helpful.

Letts books are very good. We have tried various workbooks, some which the kids liked and some which they hated (Carol Vorderman springs to mind, barf). They really liked the Letts workbooks. I think they are very popular too as I tried to get some more through the week and found they were sold out in 2 shops.

The sats dont really do anything for her, they just let the teacher and the goverment and you know if shes picking up things below above or on target for the national average. If shes going to enjoy these books them go ahead, but no need at all to stress about the SATS.

I know WHSmith were selling them for half price but that was earlier in the holidays. I did think about getting them then but instead have left it to 2 days before she goes back!

I always leave things to the last minute!

she will do loads of practise at school

IMHO there is no need to worry about them

SATS are for the school not children IYSWIM

If she is already that motivated I doubt you need worry. However we have found the Hodder Learning books good for trying to work with ds.
