We are starting to think quite seriously about sending dc to Princes Mead in Winchester. Just wondered if anyone out there had any experience of this school?

Thank you!!

Not sure I completely agree with surfdude unless you don't class Cheltenham Ladies', Wycombe Abbey, and St Swithun's as amongst the top schools, which is where lots of ex-Meadonians go. I think the destination is more to do with family circumstances - one girl this year truned down an academic scholarship for St Swithun's. A bright child at PM can go anywhere.

Arizonagirl hi. It sounds like you are nearly there. I think you have already made an excellent choice with Winchester as it offers so much for you and your family, with excellent schools and so many activities on your doorstep. It terms of which options to choose I really think you know your children the best. My advice (as a teacher of both primary and secondary and a mother of two) is to go with your gut. Listen to your children as the most important thing is that they are happy and enthusiastic about their learning. They may thrive is specific areas which are better served at specific schools later down the line and remember you can change your mind and you should if your children are not thriving. The very best of luck to you. :-)

This is an old thread but I wanted to correct the thought that PM is girl heavy. This is not true, it is just about half and half now. I have a girl and boy and they both benefit from this lovely, nurturing school. My son is a typical boy, full of energy and has just enjoyed a rugby festival (10 teams) where his year group put forward two teams, one of which came joint first! There is lots of space to run off steam. This is a school that caters to both boy and girl, academic and sporty. I thoroughly recommend Prince's Mead.

We looked round it and were impressed - we are sending our son there from September.

This is an old thread but I'm hoping someone can help. We are looking at PM and St Swithuns junior for dd and wonder if anyone has an opinion on whether st s might be quite pressured in comparison. My dd is coming from all girls and not particularly kee on boys however I'm worried she will struggle to keep up with a very formal school - very grateful for any help at all.

Apologies is wrong etiquette but I'm hoping it's not wrong to "bump" as this is an old thread...

I cannot praise PM enough as a school, both my daughters have attended and had the best time. they've both grown from extremely shy to confident in their abilities and have both excelled in all areas. The staff are so kind and caring, and the parents are fully engaged to make it a wonderful family school. A fair few girls have moved from St Swithun's due to issues with both the other girls and teaching.

Thanks for your input manado
