Do you ever get asked by close friends to tutor their child/children? If so, do you charge?
Huge dilema here, I've brushed off not-so-close friends before by stating the simple truth which is that I'm busy with my 2 young children, but now have my closest friend asking - and I have no idea what to say. I'd be so embarrassed to charge yet don't really have a spare couple of hours each week to be 'helping out'.

What would you do?
thankyou

Say no.

Don't work for your friends, especially not with your friends children!!

I would not do it personally - I would recommend someone else to them. I did some tutoring for a friend of a colleague because she didn't have the time and because she didn't want to tutor in those circs.

thankyou both - I am wary of mixing friendship and money..

I would be wary as you say. Pass on the details of someone else!

Tell her the truth, that you don't really have the time, but try to help her find someone else, or recommend some books etc that she could use.

I wouldn't. Just say "I have no time for tutoring, sorry"
