Yes they have to do 195 days a year, poor things ;)

You will get longer hols other times then chuck, and good luck to you.

(it's 13 weeks in total, distributed as decreed by LEA - is W Yorks going on to 5 or 6 terms perchance? Wouldn't they have told you though?)

kids have to do 189 in Wales. it used to be 190 but the new performance management INSET day was taken out of the teaching year. Teachers have to work 195 days- 5 'normal' insets and 1 performance management.
I think that England is the same- it isn't 195 though pindy as that's the total for teachers- across England and Wales (Scotland recently changed so don't know what the rules are then)

I thought it was 190 after inset days.

The inset days aren't technically holidays though because the poor staff don't get them.

We broke up on Wed 20/7 and go back Thu 1/9 - only a couple of days in that - hope that makes you feel better!

There are 195 school days, but children are only at school for 190 days.

This year has seemed shorter(from a staff POV)
because we broke up on a Weds and go back tomorrow so technically exactly 6 weeks but 2 were broken so only 5 full weeks.
The 6 term year is a much better system I wish Cumbria would get round to it!
