Surrey/Kent state primaries & secondaries

Where would you recommend we move to from central London to get a bit of green space, reasonable commuting time, and access to good state primaries and secondaries? DS is still tiny so this is all a bit hypothetical at the moment, but ideally I'd like somewhere where there is a good choice at primary and secondary level.
Ideally co-ed, non-selective, non-religious and not having had a large proportion of local children creamed off to private/public or selective state school. Any ideas or am I asking too much?

not Sutton or Croydon boroughs

Oxted?

If you come across the border into Kent you have the 11+ so you'd be surrounded by the grammars and church schools you wanted to avoid but there are also some good secular comps too.

Oxted definitely seems to tick all the boxes - thanks for the suggestion. Didn't realise the 11+ was so widespread in Kent - maybe we will have to consider living with it.

I wouldn't worry about the creaming off to private. I live in an area where there are some highly desirable private schools, however the local Comps include some of the best in the country. I might be more concerned about Kent which has a Grammar school system.

There are reasons why bright children might not pass the 11+.

Heathside in Weybridge is in the Good School Guide, co-ed comp with 6th form, with lots of good primaries nearby

Why avoid Sutton or Croydon?

Kent is a no-no if your criteria are really important to you. You have to really sign up to the 11plus way of selection unless you go to church or go private if you are in Kent. I would second Oxted.

we've been really happy with Oxted for secondary, you need to be a bit careful with primaries as the admission criteria have changed to incorporate feeder primaries though. LOts of families living round here have children at private schools, but you all tend to meet up at swiming/ballet/football/rugby so you do get a bit of "social mixing". I wouldn't have said that the state schools get the less academic children though.
FWIW I'd avoid Kent like the plague if you don't want selection, at least this side of Kent, I believe further west it's a bit easier.
Oxted is 40 mins to Victoria/30 mins to London Bridge if thta helps for journey planning.
