scarey

Agree it's depressing but not surprising. If you're going to send your child to a faith school pushing any kind of fundamentalism, this is what you'd get surely? Suspect the article has been researched in view of the "Intelligent Design" nonsense currently being pushed in the States.

Interesting... My niece and nephew attend a school (in Canada) that follows the ACE 'method' and I had no idea how Fundamentalist it was. The school is exactly as described with desks facing the wall and high barriers between them. I wonder if my BIL and SIL really know what their children are learning? I will be sending them this article and asking for their opinion.

I could be mis-understanding something here, but why are independent schools allowed to sell education that does not measure up to basic OfSted standards? You are not allowed to seek electrical goods that do not meet standards.

I can sympathise with alternative education techniques finding ofsted too narrow and prescriptive, but at ;east schools such as Steiner and Montessori are based on a pedagoguey designed to enable the child to receive an advanced education. These schools seem to primarily promote a style of religion, rather than education. How is it legal to offer an 'uneducational' education, and for money?

'sell' electrical goods

kath4kids · 27/08/2005 13:11

Oh my word is all i can say. How will these children ever learn confrontation skills, assuming not all of these pupils will work in 100% Christian work places will they have learnto to defend their faith when faced with opposition. And if there are no science labs then i guess none of them are ever going to have jobs in science or medicine, and what about physical exercise I guess this doesn't exist either.

Don't get me wrong I am a Christian and although I wish our schools were more Christian based I don't think i would want to send my children somewhere where they are taught to only appreciate one view.

An article about teaching intelligent design in a US school here

MarsLady · 27/08/2005 17:49

I hope Pruni that you are not saying that science cannot be understood by Christian's because of the faith they have in God.

Just making sure that I have understood your post

I didn't think that you would make such a sweeping statement.

Must have misread! Sorry

We think alike!
