Reusable nappies in UK

I wanted to get some advice on reusable nappies.
When we were in lockdown, my son was about 6 months and I really wanted to start with reusable nappies. I researched them all, but I never did take the plunge. I had a host of knowledge about the different ones available in the UK and i knew which i would have chosen. This was tots bots. I am now expecting another baby and wanted to do the reusable nappies from birth. I have noticed that tots bots have closed down since my research and when I try to get hold of the bamboozles, or any of their nappies, they are very low on stock. I now dont want to go ahead with them as trying to replace nappies will be troublesome. I also cant find any bundles which would make it a lot cheaper than buying all separately. Has anyone got information on the nappies easiest to got hold of in the UK? I know about little lambs but when i researched bacj in the day the pocket nappies were said to not be very robust. I cant remember if the 2 part system had issues. Have they improved on this since? I know there are so many makes, but some are far too expensive e.g. motherease and I dont find them easy to get hold of apart from on the nappy ladies website. I also wanted advice on starting from new born as I would have to buy a bundle then buy more when they grow. How did other people deal with this?

We used Bambino Mio and never had any issues with them. We did only use them until he was about a year old though, so no idea how they are for bigger children.

We use Judes (a German brand). They're 100% organic cotton, each one hand made, and super thin so not very bulky. They are honestly amazing and we use lanolised merino wool covers to avoid polyester or any PUL. They're not super cheap but definitely worth it in my opinion!

Just to add re starting from newborn - Judes has 2 sizes that grow with the child. Their size 1 was too big for my baby as a newborn but she was really tiny and born early so I dont think I'm a good source on the fit for an average sized newborn!

I got some cheap little bloomz and found they worked fine for me with my first. I got a few different brands 2nd hand. See which are a good fit for my baby. I really like blueberry, lovely nappies. I'm pregnancy again. This time I'm going to try muslins and flats.

I believe TotsBots are operating again, and the Nappy Lady website has some in stock. However, I did use the Bamboozle nappies for DC1 and although they were good and worked well for his body shape, I found that:

  • the 'one size' didn't last till potty training as advertised; they were too small around when he turned 2 and I had to buy a set of the larger size as well. We didn't potty train particularly late and he is quite skinny, so that was surprising and disappointing.
  • they had got pretty threadbare from washing by the time we were using them for DC2, so if you are thinking you might have a third, they don't last as long as some other brands.
  • the shape didn't work as well for DC2 (chubbier) as for DC1 (long and thin), so we got more leaks.
For DC2, we'd been given a complete set of MotherEase One Size cloth nappies and they were excellent. They had already gone through one baby and still looked as good as new, and when we passed them on they were still in immaculate condition. They fitted DC2 much better as well. The designs are not pretty and colourful like some of the totsbots ones, but frankly the cloth bit goes underneath the waterproof wrap anyway so no-one sees it.

The Renappy shop online has lots of second hand, but tested by them, nappies. I've bought most of ours from there. We use pocket nappies, but a mix of brands. Personally I really like the Baba Boo ones as they have fleece lining which doesn't fray. I borrowed some from a nearby nappy library before buying any, and found pockets easier as they dried more quickly. We have a few extra inserts compared to liners as the liners dry more quickly.
