Eco friendly laundry alternative like Smol but different?

Looking to find a more eco friendly/less plasticky alternative. We currently use biological washing tablets. Tried Smol but they were still too fragranced, we need something completely fragrance free but still biological. Does it exist?

Tried cardboard boxes of biological washing powder, but the difficulty in using and the mess for us isn’t worth it so need pods/capsules/sheets or something similar.

Or even liquid is less messy than the powder boxes

I use Splosh for household cleaning products . I do use Smol washing pods but Splosh fabric conditioner as I don’t like strong smells and it’s fragrance free .

Oh hang on , ignore me , it’s Cotton flower !
I still really like Splosh however!!

An eco egg? Don't know if it's fragrance free though but my ridiculously fussy parents approve.

I don't see how washing powder is too messy though, I buy the massive boxes and use a scoop.

Sahara123 · 11/07/2022 15:09

I actually hate fragranced laundry stuff but I can cope with cotton flower !

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 11/07/2022 15:10

Smol do fragrance free capsules but that aside Splosh are good and I have heard good things about eco eggs but not tried one.

Samarie123 · 11/07/2022 15:10

Have you tried washing nuts? You can use them over again. My mate uses them and says they are good. If she wants fragrance she adds a little bit of essential oil to the wash.

greenacrylicpaint · 11/07/2022 15:20

ecover makes a fragrance free powder.

Maytodecember · 11/07/2022 15:24

Have you got a local refill shop? I buy fragrance free laundry liquid at mine. They do powder too and softener.

Mymblesdaughter · 11/07/2022 15:26

You could try a local zerowaste shop. I am part of a co-op that runs one but all of our's laundry liquids and powders are non bio and I imagine most if not all of the eco friendly ones are.

NannyR · 11/07/2022 15:28

I was going to suggest biological washing powder. I buy a big box and decant it into a plastic box with a lid, I use an old yoghurt pot as a scoop, I don't find it messy at all.

TheSpottedZebra · 11/07/2022 15:29

What was the difficulty using and the mess with powder? Could you address that?

I just have a scoop in the box - no mess, no difficulty.

BammBamm · 11/07/2022 16:04

We have an eco egg which you can get fragrance free although it's barely fragrances anyway. It's not enough for our household with two DC though so I mainly use liquid unless it's a small freshen up wash (not very often)

LadyDanburysCane · 11/07/2022 17:06

Splosh! It’s brilliant stuff. Plus I’m sure any of us on MN who use it would be happy to share a discount code with you for your first order.

I use Splosh for ALL my cleaning except dishwasher tablets where I’ve stuck with Smol as I found the Splosh ones didn’t always dissolve fully.

ohmygash · 11/07/2022 17:31

what mess? Confused Are you trying to pour directly from the big box into the drawer or something?

Hadalifeonce · 11/07/2022 18:35

I use Earthbreeze, they are sheets and come unfragranced if you want

A580Hojas · 11/07/2022 18:42

Lol at difficulty using washing powder.

WhoWants2Know · 11/07/2022 18:49

I will confess, I always make mess trying to use washing powder. I use a scoop, but somehow there's always a sprinkle that misses the target.

Fearnecuptea · 11/07/2022 19:31

In my experience, eco eggs are so noisy they sound like they're going to take the washing machine out. The most annoying, constant banging as it flies round the drum. Even when the machine is full!
Shame as I've got loads of the product left.

Lotsofpots · 11/07/2022 19:35

Definitely Splosh. Love their stuff.

ColouringPencils · 11/07/2022 19:38

I was just having an interesting conversation with myself 😁about how the big cardboard box of laundry powder I bought must be one of my best value purchases. It does 100 washes and I think it cost about a tenner on offer from £20. I just use an old plastic cup as my scoop, no mess. It has been going for months. It is fragranced though.

fightingsleep · 11/07/2022 20:25

Bide make very eco friendly washing products including washing powder, not sure if fragranced or not

mrwalkensir · 11/07/2022 20:27

ecoballs - can do full load on quick wash at 30 or 40 = saves electricity and water

buzzswole · 11/07/2022 20:28

Ecovibe laundry strips are good and completely unscented.
